Liz Haywood-Sullivan is a landscape artist dedicated to painting in the pastel medium. Her award-winning paintings are exhibited and collected around the world. In 1996, she left the design world to follow her passion for fine art and since then has worked as a dedicated professional artist, art educator, and arts advocate.
PPAL is pleased to welcome Liz to teach an in-person three day in-person workshop here in Pittsburgh.
In this intensive workshop, Liz will guide you to the next level in your painting and encourage you to become more present and deliberate in the process of creating your artwork. Her focus will be on the important steps often skimmed over beginning with the concept of intent, the ‘why” you chose what to paint. Intent impacts all aspects of painting, including your choice of materials, technique, composition and value.
She will discuss these structural heavyweights with exercises using simple shapes and evaluating value patterns. A deeper dive into your reference images will be explored, allowing you to see better, crop, and edit your images. Limitations of cameras will be discussed.
